Delivering an SEO-optimized website that drives local SEO results

Pennsylvania-based Citizens & Northern Bank wanted to increase the search engine visibility of their bank and mortgage products among local and national competitors. They hired ZAG to develop a custom SEO strategy for their website that encompassed a variety of SEO services including search engine optimization, financial literacy content, Local Business schema markup, and SEO maintenance. One month after our strategy was implemented, we saw a 68% increase in average position on the search engine result page (SERP), a 29% increase in average click-thru rate, and a 4.4% increase in new users to the site.

To drive more organic search traffic for mortgages, ZAG performed updated keyword research to discover the best local SEO terms for the Bank. We then created new pages for each county to try to increase mortgage-related rankings. Additionally, ZAG SEO optimized the content and meta data on all mortgage product pages.

Adding schema for local SEO value

To enhance the bank’s presence for each of the towns where the Bank had a branch, ZAG implemented Local Business schema markup on all branch location pages. One month after implementing local SEO strategy, we saw a 25% increase in clicks to location pages, a 21% increase in average click-through rate, a 26% increase in time spent per website session, and a 2.59% decrease in bounce rate. Most impressively, one location saw a 316% increase in impressions.

Additional SEO services for bank’s website

ZAG also added a series of semi-customized, SEO-infused content for Citizens & Northern Bank’s blog by leveraging ZAG’s Financial Literacy Content Library. These posts were also featured as part of the Bank’s email marketing campaigns and social media strategy. For blogs not written by ZAG, we performed keyword research and optimized the content for SEO to their SEO value. 

ZAG also evaluated the website architecture  strategy and launched a new section on the bank’s website to prominently display their convenient solutions. Additionally, to keep the site free from technical SEO errors, as part of our ongoing SEO services,  ZAG reviews the bank’s website, updates meta tags on select pages, redirects 404s and resubmits the sitemap to search engines on a monthly basis.
