The Challenge

This North Carolina-based credit union’s previous site was outdated and no longer provided a beneficial user experience. The navigation was fragmented, the design didn’t reflect usability best practices, and the site had become very difficult to manage administratively. With ZAG’s strategic direction, Summit Credit Union was ready for a newly designed, modern and mobile-friendly website that supported their inbound marketing goals while guiding members through their journey to financial success.

The Solution

Delivering an enhanced user experience

Following the discovery process, ZAG  did a thorough analysis of Summit Credit Union’s previous site, and an updated site structure was recommended to meet both member and credit union goals. The new navigation is based on action-oriented terms to provide an intuitive approach allowing members to easily find what they are looking for. The new site menus not only drive members to the right pages, but also incorporate promotions to highlight timely offers or special promotions.

Supporting inbound marketing efforts

To establish Summit Credit Union as a leader in financial education, a custom blog was designed as part of the new website. The new blog will allow the credit union to deliver fresh content to audiences and support other inbound marketing efforts. The custom blog will not only provide a beneficial educational platform for website visitors, but also add value to the credit union’s SEO strategy by providing fresh content to search engines.

Building the brand image

The new responsive website design seamlessly brings Summit Credit Union’s brand to life across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Genuine, lifestyle imagery throughout the site along with engaging iconography helps users to relate to the brand. Strategic use of Summit’s primary blue along with secondary colors and other design features help to refresh the brand, communicate product payoff, and encourage users to engage with content. Additionally, these design elements were incorporated and tested against current ADA guidelines to ensure equal accessibility for all website visitors.

Creating a valuable consumer journey

The updated website copy makes financial information easily digestible, conveying an authentic and friendly tone to inspire members to achieve their goals. Strategic financial education and product placement guides users through all stages of the decision-making journey while conversion focused landing pages and built-in forms work to capture qualified leads.

Upgrading technology for future success

This custom website was built in the Kentico Xperience CMS, a highly configurable, licensed .NET platform. ZAG’s developers customized this site against the design and included features such as rates and event management tools – allowing for centralized, dynamic content management. The site integrated with many third parties, including a chat feature which allows members to quickly get in touch with the credit union. In addition, a custom analytics strategy was implemented to provide insights to better understand site activity and to continue to optimize the site experience.

Consistent with Summit Credit Union’s brand, the new website offers a streamlined experience and guides its members to financial success.
