Finding a brand’s potential with a new banking website  

Wisconsin-based Peoples State Bank opened in 1962 as an independent institution dedicated to customer satisfaction. Today, Peoples State Bank continues to serve the financial needs of its customers, with a commitment to its community and core values. Focused on the customer, knowledge, teamwork, accountability and agility, Peoples takes pride in their work and strives to “Always see the potential.” With these guiding principles, Peoples partnered with ZAG to redesign their website and create a more modern web presence that would make their mission possible.

Establishing a plan of action

From the onset, collaboration was key as ZAG and Peoples came together for an initial discovery session. During this time, ZAG sought to understand the Peoples story, brand and business goals. Primary goals included improving organic search rankings, better positioning products, increasing leads, as well as showing their value and how they make their customers’ lives better. All of these objectives were incorporated into the responsive website, from the site architecture and strategy to design.

Designing for success

Highlighting solutions, education and other important information, ZAG created custom designs for the Peoples State Bank website. The design uses color and photography purposefully to tell the brand’s story. Adding variation to visuals, the design includes unique icons to differentiate content types, contextually present helpful resources and communicate quickly.

Creating strategic content  

Consistent with their objectives and values, Peoples State Bank wanted the site to be friendly and conversational, but not overly casual. ZAG’s copywriting team developed website content that balanced the approachable brand and business acumen to help build relationships and convert customers. As part of the project, Peoples also added a custom blog to their website. Delivering fresh content to visitors, the blog also offers additional opportunities to optimize for important keywords, supporting a strategic SEO and inbound marketing program.

Building a better experience

ZAG’s developers leveraged the power of the Kentico CMS to create a website experience that would integrate the strategy, design and technology. Along with out-of-the box features, ZAG added a custom location finder, a rates management tool to allow for seamless sitewide updates, as well as numerous other custom widgets. In addition, the site was built to be WCAG 2.0 level AA conformant, making it accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities.

Creating an exciting site launch

To increase awareness of the new website and encourage visitors to explore the new site, ZAG’s marketing team strategized, designed and supported a website launch campaign. This unique campaign leveraged a custom landing page, social media, and site promotions to communicate the Bank’s community support efforts while giving visitors a chance to support their favorite charity. Additionally, to ensure a smooth transition from the old site to the new site, ZAG created a site tour to familiarize new visitors with all of the exciting new features.
