Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) is a trusted, South Dakota-based institution that hired ZAG Interactive to overhaul its digital experience. BHFCU sought to refresh its branding online, provide ultimate convenience and powerful technology to their members, and provide a seamless user experience on any device. ZAG Interactive delivered with a unique responsive design that reflects BHFCU’s approachability and commitment to serving its members, while creating an engaging digital presence that welcomes visitors and helps the credit union grow its business.
Laying the strategic foundation
After performing a competitive review to understand BHFCU’s opportunities in the marketplace, we started by overhauling the website architecture, resulting in intuitive navigation that focuses on simplicity and facilitates visitors’ abilities to explore the credit union’s array of banking and lending services, without feeling overwhelmed. The new, streamlined navigation strategy means fewer menus and menu options, while quickly directing people to key destinations and providing the institution with plenty of scalability.
Modern, custom design and development
Our design team infused the new site with fresh imagery that draws upon the unique South Dakota landscape to form natural connections with BHFCU’s members. We also helped BHFCU with several other digital initiatives, including new blog for ongoing financial education, new email templates for continued member communication, and landing pages to help succinctly deliver the latest BHFCU offers to members. The new website design is also level AA ADA conformant so that all visitors can have a positive experience with the site.
ZAG selected the Kentico CMS as the development platform for BHFCU because of its powerful technology and scalability to meet future development and marketing needs. We built custom rates management and branch locations management tools to allow BHFCU administrators to easily update this information dynamically throughout the site. Our development team also implemented multiple customized elements, including a tool that quickly determines potential members’ eligibility to join BHFCU, a properties section that allows BHFCU to list available foreclosed real estate, simplified account applications, custom forms and more.
Extending the brand and marketing value
While our design and development teams were hard at work, our copywriting and marketing teams partnered to deliver fresh copy that reflected a consistent, professional and brand-appropriate tone, while having local SEO value. The overall content approach gives a more personalized approach for members - including key product details, useful tools and calculators tools, relevant financial education and more. The goal was to create a helpful interface so that members could quickly move from consideration through application submission, and get the help they need along the way. The results combine to form a modernized web presence that positions BHFCU as a local leader among financial institutions, while retaining the qualities that members expect from a local credit union.
