2022 marks 20 years of working hard, playing hard, dedication and commitment – to our mission, our clients, our partners, our team and our community. From our humble beginnings to every meaningful moment along the way, we are so proud of this milestone and grateful for those who have been a part of ZAG’s journey. As we celebrate, we're looking back at the past twenty years with a timeline of major milestones, memorable moments, 20 things you didn't know about ZAG and more.
“To me, hitting 20 years is an incredible achievement that shows ZAG’s long-term commitment to responsible growth and stability. Each and every employee has their own personal stamp on the history of the company's success over the years and every single one should feel very proud of what we’ve all accomplished together. Our future looks bright!” -Mark Sarni, CFO
Memorable Moments "The Sitefinity conference in Boston with Mel, Mike and Larry – Larry kept changing the password to my phone and I was locked out for almost 24 hours." -Melissa Wilkinson, Associate Art Director
Memorable Moments "One memory that stays with me is every single time that Larry jumped out at me, pretended to be dead on the floor, or positioned cardboard life-sized Twilight characters to scare me as I opened the door each morning. The second is the attitude of show up and we will find a way. This was true when the office flooded… after a hurricane… and when power went out for 9 days. Larry always found a way to keep us moving forward.” -Jennifer Buccini, Art Director
Memorable Moments "Some of my favorite memories are from team happy hours circa 2014/2015. Also, attending my first holiday party before my first day (never wore heels since), and getting the "you're hired" call while I was still driving home from my interview." -Brenna Kelliher, Senior Digital Strategist
"Larry, thanks for creating an environment where, at one point, I could wear a tight green body suit without questioning whether I actually should." -Doug Malan
Memorable Moments "When mine and Jenn’s office was directly next to Larry’s… and he would “pop in” just to put his dirty gym socks, or banana peels, in my purse and leave." -Melissa Wilkinson, Associate Art Director
Memorable Moments "Larry submitting fake lead forms or making fake phone calls with funny prospective client names to see if anyone would pick up on it. A collection of these names were on his whiteboard for some time." -Michelle Brown, VP of Marketing
Memorable Moments "My favorite ZAG memory was probably in my first month or so of my internship in 2017 when Larry convinced a telemarketer selling chimney cleaning services that he lived in a trailer that has a chimney, which is basically illegal and impossible for a variety of reasons. Larry convinced the person to the point of scheduling a site visit, at which point the person realized it was a prank. This was probably my first interaction with Larry from a business perspective, and looking back on it now I think it perfectly represented the culture of ZAG." -Spencer Hosack
Memorable Moments "There was a good chance at every Wiffle Ball game that Larry was either going to rip his shorts or hamstring. Good times." -Dan Seagull
Memorable Moments "Larry constantly bouncing a lacrosse ball and eating spoonfuls of peanut butter in his office on Eastern Blvd. I don’t look at peanut butter the same." -Danielle Maglio, Digital Strategist
Memorable Moments "There was a day where my kids weren’t able to go to daycare and I ended up having to bring them into the office for an onboarding and training. It was chaos, but we were doing our best. Then, the fire alarm went off. I had two small kids and tons of stuff, but it was also raining outside. Then came my hero—Dave, who quickly helped grab everything and get us in the car -- keeping everything, my kids and my eyes, dry." -Brigid Kearney
Memorable Moments "My favorite story was a few years ago, around Christmas time, when Greg and I spent an hour after work trying to play a prank on Spencer by wrapping his entire desk area in wrapping paper, but instead of pranking Spencer, he and Greg pranked me. Apparently, Greg made sure Spencer arrived before me the next morning and somehow got him to sneak inside the package without disturbing the wrapping, and hid there unbeknownst to me until I was settled into my desk. Greg started playing music to queue Spencer, and I was clueless as I happily chatted with Leigh, until all of a sudden Spencer jumped of the package into the middle of the office, ripping open the wrapping paper, and scaring the living daylights out of me!" -Marah Boisoneau
Memorable Moments "Larry’s response when I got hired. I got an email offering me the position on the marketing team, so I replied to accept. Larry was CCed, so he Replied All that “Michelle, you messed up and offered the job to the wrong person” to which I replied “That’s fine, I was actually accepting a different job and emailed you all by mistake.” He then replied “How do I unsubscribe from these emails?" -Patrick Trayes, Senior Digital Strategist
Memorable Moments "In the old Dev Lounge, indoors with no kitchen, we cooked hot dogs, cookies, chicken soup in the Bunn Pour-o-Matic, tapas with marinated steak, and artisanal sausage made from the pigs that ate Malan’s acorns." -Dan Seagull
Memorable Moments “A while back we hired a developer. What made this employee unique was that he was the first employee to be hired that Larry had never met, and Larry was understandably nervous. On his first day, he takes his seat at his workstation and plugs in his brand-new, ZAG-issued laptop. Immediately after doing so, he stands up and walks away to get a cup of coffee while it booted up. As he stepped away from his seat, he felt some resistance on his leg that he decided to step through with all his force. As it turns out, that resistance was the power cable to his laptop that came along with him on the journey to the coffee maker. The laptop didn’t survive this journey. The screen was destroyed and separated from the rest of the laptop. His first ever meeting with Larry was to explain how he managed to completely annihilate his laptop before morning scrum could even start.” -Paul Andrews, VP of Interactive Services
Memorable Moments "Running the Warrior Dash with Larry, Nicole, Paul, Jolene, John and his wife." -Melissa Wilkinson, Associate Art Director
